• With the fictional and non-fictional worlds now separate, Owen finds he has lost his imagination, not that he can imagine how that would be a problem. Meanwhile, Bethany’s fictional half is enjoying her new life until her father is shot by a mysterious ray gun. What is Nobody’s plan doing? Can Owen and Bethany stop him?
  
  If this isn’t making sense to you, don’t jump in here. This is the final book in the series, and it builds on everything that came before it. However, fans who have read the previous four books in the series will be delighted. We get another wild, fast paced ride. Almost all the characters we’ve met along the way are back for this book as well, and I loved seeing them all again. The climax is wonderful and wraps up the series well. Along with the fun and some meta laughs, we get some interesting thoughts on the importance of both imagination and reality.
• As usual, Story Thieves doesn't disappoint! The book was amazing- just like all the other books in the series! The book related back to the story Owen wrote back in Secret Origins, adding the right touch to the plot. A well written and interesting book overall, highly recommended !
• The 5th installment of the Story Thieves series was incredible! I bought the book as soon as possible, reading immediately, and finished it soon after. The book was very entertaining! The main characters and their friends were taken on an adventure they couldn't have even dreamed of. Literally. There was action, magic, and thrill following Owen and Bethany through another fantastic journey! It more than passed my expectations for the final book and raised my imagination of what can be possible.
• Our hardcover had extra chapters and missing chapters. At first, my son and I thought it was Nobody's trick, so we read the duplicate chapters very carefully to look for differences. We compared notes and decided, nah, it was just a misprint. We were desperate to read it, so I ordered it on and we carried on. Around that same time, it just so happened that James Riley was in town for a book signing event, so I messaged him and asked if he would sign our misprint. He seemed a bit surprised, but said yes and nicely offered us a replacement. When we got to the signing, he signed both books and added a bit of artwork to the misprint. It made my son's day! (Mine, too, if I'm being honest.) The misprint is now on our bookshelf with the rest of the series, waiting for the day my daughter picks it up to read. My son and I have a bet going to see how long it takes her to figure out it's a misprint. It's a prank long in the making, but well worth it. This is hands down one of the best series out there, with a phenomenal final book.
• I liked the entire series, but this book is better. I loved the showdown at the end. This story made me care for the characters, but Owen I feel this is centered around. This series is defiantly one of my favorites. If you’re reading this, I want a copy of Kiel Gnomenfoot and the Source of Magic! Hopefully you liked this book and series too, and check out James Riley’s collection!
• Oh my goodness. Where do I start???? It was ALL so good! I can't really say much without spoiling anything.The ending was amazing, much like the story Owen wrote in Secret Orgins. All in all, a totally AMAZING book!!!!!!!!!!!

• My son has been reading this series and I've been purchasing one at a time as he's read through then. He was super excited to get this final book, jumped right into reading it, only to discover several chapters were missing and others were printed twice. Not so great for a story line! That copy has been returned and a new one ordered. Hoping it was just a bad copy.

• I strongly believe that reviews should be about the product, not the shipping outcome, which is totally irrelevant.
  
  I pre-ordered Icing on the Cake so long ago that there was no product description. Based on the title alone, I was expecting another cookbook all about cake. Much to my surprise, Tessa Huff's second book has recipes for cakes, yes, but also pies, pie pops, cheesecake, tarts, macarons, cupcakes, and everything that goes along with those deserts (buttercream, marshmallows, etc).
  
  One reason Tessa is such a special baker and cookbook author is her ability to create incredibly elaborate as well as sweetly whimsical cakes. Yes, you'll find some standard flavors here, and you can mix-and-match, but the magic is in Tessa's genius ability to dream up fantastical cakes (and tarts and pies, etc. ) you never even considered before. Her London Fog cake from Layered is still all over the internet (and Pinterest and magazines and instagram) - her Sticky Toffee Date Cake, Pink Lemonade Cake, and Blackberry Elderflower Vertical Cake from Icing on the Cake are certain to achieve the same resounding success.
  
  It's not just about the clever flavor combinations though. Tessa is also an extraordinary teacher and there is a substantial trove of valuable tips interspersed throughout Icing on the Cake. This is a cookbook to bake from, but it's also a book to snuggle up with on the couch and read from cover to cover.
  
  One of the most important questions for any cookbook is - can I recreate the dish at home? are the directions clear and are the ingredients easy to source? The answer here is a ~90% yes. Some people might struggle to find passion fruit concentrate and pistachio paste, but those are the only two ingredients that really leapt out at me as challenging, and they're only featured in three of the cakes. Tessa's instructions are confident, concise, and meticulous and her recipes include both weight and volume measurements.
  
  So far, I've only made the pink lemonade cake (a strawberry cake with lemon cream, meringue buttercream, and her lemon-strawberry macarons). It is absolutely worth the effort and the cost/space Icing on the Cake takes up on my bookshelf. I can't wait to try more recipes in the next few weeks.
• Got my book delivered today in Nashville. The top left corner was a bit smashed but nothing extremely noticeable. Now that's out of the way... this book is absolutely stunning! There are tons of beautiful photos and so much detail in her instructions. I bought this as a gift to myself since I am a new home baker and let me tell you, I feel so inspired to get into the kitchen just going through this cookbook! This would make an excellent gift too as the quality is amazing (the hardcover book has some heft to it - kind of like a textbook). Overall, I totally recommend buying this book - it's definitely worth the price!
• I've used many a cake cookbook, some purchased and some though the library, to varying degrees of success. When I saw Tessa Huff's first book "Layered" I was stuck by the depth of both flavors and instruction in her recipes. Literally every recipe I've used in that book was spot-on. The recipes are perfect and work everytime.
  
  I was excited to see "Icing on the Cake" available as she has included other desserts like pies and macarons. I never thought I'd make French macarons, but with Tessa's precise step-by-step directions, it was easier than I thought (still working on the piping to get the tops perfectly flat). I've made several recipes from this new book and, just like the first, the recipes are rock solid, guaranteed successes. I know I can choose any one and, barring user error, I'll have a spectacular end result.
  
  As you flip though the book you'll notice the photos are both gorgeous and inspiring, inviting you to spend a little time in the kitchen working on a new project. Tessa has included intros to each recipe which are insightful and delightful, as if she's speaking to you like a fellow baking friend.
  
  "Icing on the Cake" and "Layered" are front and center on my cookbook shelf, and they should be on yours too.

• I will admit I am biased. I am a huge fan of J. D. Robb and the In Death series. I have read and 're-read each book and listened to and 're-listened to each audio book in this series and I'm still not tired or bored. This latest offering doesn't disappoint. The nature of these crimes are for me difficult for me to digest but the overall story is very engaging. I also love seeing Eve and Roarke`s relationship evolve, and grow and this book offers that as well. Only negative is no Mavis nor Nadine this time around. Highly recommended!
• The storyline is not a fast paced action packed journey, but it is deep and meaningful. The horrors committed by the villain are nightmarish, but as always, Eve and her team, including Roark, handle it quickly. I love the interplay between Eve and Roark. 44 books in and I'm still completely happy with the series.
• This series is consistently outstanding. Of all the authors I read, there are very few that don't cause me to lose interest after fifteen or more books. Eve Dallas just keeps getting better. This was no exception, in spite of the horrific topic, the storyline kept my interest. I knew all would be resolved and or course it was, in a spectacular manner. The villain was caught and the confession was so strange it made sense. The women were portrayed with a lot of sensitivity and empathy. However if you've ever been a victim, I'd give this a pass.
  
  Of course the secondary characters always give these books a different perspective, for me. It's like getting together with old friends. And of course Roarke and Eve are never boring and the love affair just keeps getting better!
• While some long running series start to grow stale after awhile, J. D. Robb's In Death series is one of those rare few that keep running strong. Echoes in Death is no exception. Full of red herrings, brutal murders and assaults, and enough echoes of Eve's own past to shake her up, Echoes is a fast-paced thriller from start to finish.
  
  When Eve and Roarke find Daphne Strazza wandering the side of the road- dazed, naked, and bloody- they have no idea the extent of the evil they will uncover. At first it seems like a burglary and assault with the accidental murder of Dr. Anthony Strazza, and Strazza's unpleasant, god-complex and abusive behavior leave plenty of people on the suspect list for who'd want him dead. As a series of like-crimes is uncovered it becomes less about Strazza's abusive tendencies and more about one very sick, very twisted man with a hidden agenda all his own.
  
  Echoes in Death did an exceptionally good job of balancing Eve's personal and professional lives. We saw more sweet, private moments between Eve and Roarke than usual- including a lovely blizzard scene. There was also a very touching moment between Eve and Galahad that we don't usually see, though of course that was followed by the cat tricking a second breakfast out of Eve! My only complaint is that I find it absolutely criminal that Roarke is only now introducing Eve to that "classic" vid- The Avengers. Reading this book over Oscars weekend, I was a little disappointed not to get a scene between Nadine and Eve (or Nadine, Peabody, and Eve) congratulating Nadine on seven Oscar nominations for The Icove Agenda- but that would have been a bit too much added to the book, and I expect we'll come back to that in a later book since it will probably involve a glitzy party that Eve can't get out of!
  
  The mystery is a bit more traditional than some of Robb's more recent books- we don't see anything from the killer's point-of-view, and solving the crime is based on solid cop work and instinct. Not a complaint, but a change of pace from some of the more recent books like Thankless in Death and Apprentice in Death. As always, I enjoyed not being sure of the killer until the end- although to my credit I suspected him at the first meeting, then fell for the red herrings Robb threw out to forget about him. But I refuse to give away the finale, so you'll have to read Echoes in Death for yourself to discover the killer ending. Robb does a great job writing villains who feel so entitled that they assume they'll get off even after confessing. And the final twist reminds you once again why this book "Echoes".
  
  Echoes in Death may be one of the best In Death books in awhile (although I'm biased, I love them all). Fast-paced, smart, and a perfect blend of violence, murder, wit, and love. Red herrings and plenty of suspects lead to a must read new Eve Dallas mystery!
• I have read every single In Death book and novella and cross over, and this is the first one that I've ever had a problem with... first off, the writing style is completely different from any of the other books and it made it nearly impossible to read... it took me 5 months to read this book because it just didn't sit right. Not one of the characters spoke sounded like themselves and the storyline was too rushed. Near the end of the book, all of a sudden there is the killer with very little insight into battery are thinking (which is completely new) and the book doesn't explain at all how Eve came to her conclusion... one second she's giving Roarke the rundown and mid-paragraph, all of a sudden she's switched to showing him why she knows it's this guy... no insinuation to the reader at all... it's like two separate scenes were smashed together... and the constant, improper sentence structure is so distracting it's difficult to read! I've never read a book before where I had to re-read nearly every line to make sure I hadn't misread... in all honesty it's as if the story were a fanfic that was published under J.D.Robb's name... not one of the characters acted or spoke like themselves, not even the main character!!! The location and scene descriptions were lacking at best and the dialogue was fragmented... I am seriously disappointed in this book... if the next one is written in the same style as this one, I won't be reading anymore of the series...

• Love the Eve Dallas stories and have read all of them. I'm a bit disappointed in this one though. The writing style seemed different. Dialogue did not match the characters personality. The plot and story was good and enjoyed it but I don't feel I got a real "in death".
